Bonnie Productions was set up in 2020 by award winning Film and TV producer, Christine Langan, to produce original independent film and TV projects that tell stories with originality, humour and heart. With a varied development slate, Bonnie Productions has a host of exciting IP, and strong talent relationships and exceptional writing at its core.
MISS AUSTEN is Bonnie’s first TV production. Adapted by Andrea Gibb from the Gill Hornby novel of the same name, featuring a stellar cast including Keeley Hawes, Rose Leslie and Patsy Ferran, the four-part limited series is directed by Aisling Walsh and co-produced by PBS in America. MISS AUSTEN launched in the UK in February 2025 on BBC, and in May 2025 in the US.
The first feature film to launch under the Bonnie Productions banner is HOT MILK, based on the bestselling novel by Deborah Levy, adapted and directed by Rebecca Lenkiewicz and starring Emma Mackey, Fiona Shaw, and Vicky Krieps. It premiered in competition at the 75th Berlinale in 2025, and was theatrically released in the US June 2025, and the UK July 2025.
Christine’s producing career began at ITV Granada where she produced the multi award winning hit TV show, COLD FEET. Other notable credits include Stephen Frears’ political TV drama, THE DEAL for which she won her first BAFTA; the critically acclaimed BAFTA and Academy Award winning film THE QUEEN starring Helen Mirren; DIRTY FILTHY LOVE which won an RTS Award and PIERREPOINT which led to a nomination for the BAFTA Carl Foreman Award.
As Head of BBC Films (2009– 2016) Christine led on the development and production of a vast array of British independent movies, achieving record breaking BAFTA and Academy Award nominations, with films including BROOKLYN, PHILOMENA, WE NEED TO TALK ABOUT KEVIN and SAVING MR BANKS as well as Cannes Film Festival success with titles like Andrea Arnold’s FISH TANK, Jane Campion’s BRIGHT STAR and Matthew Warchus’ PRIDE. During this time Christine also brought Sir David Hare’s Worricker Trilogy to BBC Television.
Between 2016 and 2022, Christine served as CEO of Baby Cow Productions, where she oversaw development and production of TV and film slates, including the acclaimed BBC comedy THIS TIME WITH ALAN PARTRIDGE and films including Sean Foley’s MINDHORN, Jon Baird’s STAN & OLLIE, Craig Roberts’ THE PHANTOM OF THE OPEN and Stephen Frears’ THE LOST KING.
